The Mythical Furella De Fur

Furella’s a mythical feline, who I have heard of friends before.  But never I’ve seen her or witnessed her stare. She stealthy walks. So one hears from gnomes. She walks between twilight before a full moon.  Along any pathway along any wall and non may stop her for great are her paws.

My dear friends this is a story. Of one scary such darkest night. When the winds were howling and the moon was out of sight. Was so dark in the garden I could see not one paw, not one little paw upon my word, and I have four!

I hid in my tunnel as afraid of the dark I am not.  But alas dear friends. I find no light from the moon a bit of a put of. So I sat and waited in case someone would pass. But not one feline did and definitely no Mister Marvellous Mouse.

My fur be black like coal and my tummy though white is not hard to hide. If I sit out of sight. I sat down low as a sound caught my ear.  A faint little tiptoe and I thought oh my dear!

Has Mister Marmalade lost track of the time and instead of being home was out on the prowl? But no dear friends I saw him before. Along time before darkness and not much after quarter past four.

So my fur started to prickle and my eyes they go wide.  I opened my ears a far as I could. But you know dear friends the sound was so faint. A little bit shuffling and more of a clink. I wish like Mister Marmalade I had gone home before. Cos my knees were trembling and the wind it did howl. I thought I might faint as afraid I am now.

Not Miss furry The Great at all.  No shiny tin helmet no shiny nothing at all. Oh my! What was that sound? The strange shuffling, the clinking the strange dragging of paws. No dear friends I’m dreaming no sound of a paw no sound of a clinking no dragging of something on my dear, dearest wall.

I looked up upon the skyline to see the biggest black pussy cat. Way bigger than me, and that was a fact. All shiny teeth a glistening, all pointy sharp claws.  Oh, my dearest friends is this the end of my fence or indeed of me and my grrr paws...

 To be continued.....

Helen Lewins is an author. Helen was born in Northumberland but due to the closure of the coal mines, her parents moved the family to North London to take up work as publicans. After school, she started an apprenticeship with an electrical engineering medical company where she worked for many years as a Service Engineer. With a calling for something else more creative she went travelling in the UK and worked the summer in a hotel on the Jurassic Coast. This led her to study hospitality management and after graduation, she took on a role as a hotel Manager back in Northumberland. Then her life changed forever and along came her beautiful son. It became obvious early on that he was developing at a different rate from his peers. He had limited speech until he was eight years old. Eventually, after quite a long journey he was diagnosed with Autism. That is when Helen started to write about Miss Furry to entertain her son as it was based on their pet cat. It has been a very personal journey for them both and Helen hopes that Miss Furry brings joy to other children. Helen and her Son live in Northumberland with Miss Furry who does indeed spend her days patrolling the fence.
