The Good, The bad and The Furry (Mister Marvelous mouse!)

Well furry friends what a strange week we have had in Furthumberland.  Miss Furry has decided to call a truce with Mister Marmalade and any feathery, furry, big friend or foe. ( don't worry it won't last).  In an act of  compassion.  You may be aware Miss Furry is not usually know for such shows of affection or selflessness.

Every morning (well most),  Miss furry nibbles her breakfast and goes to her post to repel all.  She polishes her tin helmet and shinny breast plate (Miss furry found them at an undisclosed place) and rather fancies herself as a Roman Centurion.  Well, we do live quite near Emperor Hadrian Roman Wall. And maybe that's where Miss Furry got the idea from.

She walks back and forward in an important manner, whilst occasionally having to keep her shiny helmet on her two sizes too small head. Waits for any friend or foe who has the misfortune to saunter past (ususlly, as you maybe aware its Mister cuddly Marmalade.)

Today Miss Furry though instead of patrolling and repelling she would in fact open up her post and allow the rather cuddly Mister Marmalade to pass by if he should wish.

I was amazed at Miss furry and thought to myself if she is indeed feeling well. Miss Furry assured me that there is nothing wrong with her and is amazed I didn't know what a kind, caring, sharing cat she really is and  indeed how very rude I am  for suggestion otherwise!

At this point I was just about to reply when Miss Furry flew out of the door "where are you going?" ,  "well obviously mum I didn't mean mice!", "halt who goes fur" shouted Miss Furry to a rather confused and terrified Mister Marvelous Mouse.

It's alright Miss furry spent so long trying to keep her helmet on whilst running that Mister Marvelous Mouse had plenty of time to get away.

Miss Furry on the other hand has decided being compassionate it's not indeed in her nature and is back to patrol as normal.

Helen Lewins is an author. Helen was born in Northumberland but due to the closure of the coal mines, her parents moved the family to North London to take up work as publicans. After school, she started an apprenticeship with an electrical engineering medical company where she worked for many years as a Service Engineer. With a calling for something else more creative she went travelling in the UK and worked the summer in a hotel on the Jurassic Coast. This led her to study hospitality management and after graduation, she took on a role as a hotel Manager back in Northumberland. Then her life changed forever and along came her beautiful son. It became obvious early on that he was developing at a different rate from his peers. He had limited speech until he was eight years old. Eventually, after quite a long journey he was diagnosed with Autism. That is when Helen started to write about Miss Furry to entertain her son as it was based on their pet cat. It has been a very personal journey for them both and Helen hopes that Miss Furry brings joy to other children. Helen and her Son live in Northumberland with Miss Furry who does indeed spend her days patrolling the fence.
