Mister Marmalade's Christmas Carol...

Dear furry friends I have a little Christmas story that Mister Marmalade told to me this very morn of a strange occurrence that happen to him on his way home from the daisy field.

Twas  at least two or more nights before Christmas no sound in the paddock, no creature crawling and definitely no sign of Mister Marvelous Mouse. When Mister Marmalade was walking on his way back to his cosy, fluffy, heated (well he is rather old) bed from the sadly no more to be seen till spring Daisy field.

As you know Mister Marmalade loves the Daisy field but often forgets the time and ends having to go home in the the dark.
Mister Marmalade is frightened of the dark and always tries to make sure he is home in plenty of time.

However he lost track last night   (he is rather forgetful) and had to walk  along Miss Furry's fence to go home to bed. In the dark. There was no moon just the odd slither of light from the houses in the hamlet.

When he approached Miss Furry's fence he heard a strange noise in the distance where the tumble down Shepard 's house is, in the field on the horizon. Well, Mister Marmalade not know for his courage could just in the distance see the faint glimmer of lights and a strange high pitched noise.  At this, Mister Marmalade was stricken with fear. And was quite afraid to move.

He stood there for quite a while with his cuddly sploggy face all screwed up and his soft padded paws over his ears.  Not sure what to do at all.

When he finally plucked up the courage to look toward the shepherds house he saw what he though was strange shapes moving in the shafts of light that was radiating out.

Mister Marmalade saw a sleeping Mrs Goat. And said in a rather trembling voice. "Hello there Mrs Goat, can you by chance see the lights over there" . "Mrs Goat opened one eye, "what by the tumble down Shepard house" . "Yes"mister marmalade trembled.
"Oh yes"said Mrs Goat "that's them mice".

It turns out it was In fact Mister Marvelous Mouse's Christmas party. And any mini furry or feathery and even the odd cat or two where indeed welcome  to go.
"Oh well that's a relief" said Mister Marmalade "I shall not go though I have a bed (heated) with my name on it! And with that set on his merry way home.

May all have a very Merry Christmas from Miss Furry and all her friends.🐱

Helen Lewins is an author. Helen was born in Northumberland but due to the closure of the coal mines, her parents moved the family to North London to take up work as publicans. After school, she started an apprenticeship with an electrical engineering medical company where she worked for many years as a Service Engineer. With a calling for something else more creative she went travelling in the UK and worked the summer in a hotel on the Jurassic Coast. This led her to study hospitality management and after graduation, she took on a role as a hotel Manager back in Northumberland. Then her life changed forever and along came her beautiful son. It became obvious early on that he was developing at a different rate from his peers. He had limited speech until he was eight years old. Eventually, after quite a long journey he was diagnosed with Autism. That is when Helen started to write about Miss Furry to entertain her son as it was based on their pet cat. It has been a very personal journey for them both and Helen hopes that Miss Furry brings joy to other children. Helen and her Son live in Northumberland with Miss Furry who does indeed spend her days patrolling the fence.
