I can still hear her Trumpet now

You may remember that Miss Furry 'found' herself a lovely shiny tin trumpet. Possible from the same hiding place where she found her 'lovely ' tin helmet and 'lovely' tin  breast plate. (Which I am pleased to say Miss Furry regularly uses to her advantage!!).  Wether needed or not...

Well Miss Furry has been happily trumpeting (it's not a rude word silly!) Along her fence with her trumpet in one paw while the other paw ( don't worry she has four), holds on to her helmet which is rather large. And has an unfortunate habit of dropping over one eye.  Causing Miss Furry to have to lift her head back in order to portray a atmosphere of professionalism (ahem).

I said to Miss furry "do you think that's a good idea that trumpeting whilst holding on your helmet you might fall?"... Well Miss Furry fixed me one of her hardest stare (that's right the one that cuts through butter) but this one could have cut through frozen butter so hard was the stare, I actually felt rather hot.

She strutted back tail all high back all arched, oh yes whilst one paw was holding on to her trumpet and the other paw keeping her helmet from her eyes. "How am I suppose to do it, I mean it's quite hard this you know.  I don't stand here patrolling for the good of my health you know".  Mister Gnome (who had been quietly listening in to our conversation ), put his hands over his eye's and  started to step back ever so slowly.  "I have to repel all invaders, all day that takes me no one else would go to this much trouble you know. No one appreciates me, all day I stand here..."

At this point Miss Furry started to walk along the back  fence.  Mister Gnome was practically through his front door ( you will be pleased to here his roof has grown back).

And I shook my head as Miss Furry went on and on and on.... And in the distance (from the back door)  I can still hear her trumpet now...

Helen Lewins is an author. Helen was born in Northumberland but due to the closure of the coal mines, her parents moved the family to North London to take up work as publicans. After school, she started an apprenticeship with an electrical engineering medical company where she worked for many years as a Service Engineer. With a calling for something else more creative she went travelling in the UK and worked the summer in a hotel on the Jurassic Coast. This led her to study hospitality management and after graduation, she took on a role as a hotel Manager back in Northumberland. Then her life changed forever and along came her beautiful son. It became obvious early on that he was developing at a different rate from his peers. He had limited speech until he was eight years old. Eventually, after quite a long journey he was diagnosed with Autism. That is when Helen started to write about Miss Furry to entertain her son as it was based on their pet cat. It has been a very personal journey for them both and Helen hopes that Miss Furry brings joy to other children. Helen and her Son live in Northumberland with Miss Furry who does indeed spend her days patrolling the fence.
