The look of furry disapproval....

Miss Furry has decided that it was most selfish for me to go on holiday and she will probably never speak to me again ever as long as she furry well lives!. Even though Mr-kindly-next-door-neighbor, was cat sitting.

Mr-kindly-next-door-neighbor always brings her treats, gives her a lovely tummy tickle and generally makes a great big fuss over Miss Furry (as his furry friend sadly died earlier this year, what a legend he was he wore his medallion cat collar with great panache and is sadly missed).

However to hear Miss Furry you would think she had been left to fend for herself in utter desperation.  "Help me someone I have been abandoned and I'm really frighten and on my own"...Or this is what I imagine her to be saying to everybody with a pained expression on her furry face, from the sunny window as they walked past.

As that was the face that appeared to me  as I arrived back and walk through the door... This was followed by an almost fainting, staggering walk as she could barely hold herself up after such a traumatic experience... And then the look of totally disgust as only a cat can do tail up and a haughty walk past, nose so high she almost walked into the kitchen door.  Whilst telling me what she thought of me going on holiday, and any way I didn't miss you, so there ...oh dear it's going to be a long weekend...

Helen Lewins is an author. Helen was born in Northumberland but due to the closure of the coal mines, her parents moved the family to North London to take up work as publicans. After school, she started an apprenticeship with an electrical engineering medical company where she worked for many years as a Service Engineer. With a calling for something else more creative she went travelling in the UK and worked the summer in a hotel on the Jurassic Coast. This led her to study hospitality management and after graduation, she took on a role as a hotel Manager back in Northumberland. Then her life changed forever and along came her beautiful son. It became obvious early on that he was developing at a different rate from his peers. He had limited speech until he was eight years old. Eventually, after quite a long journey he was diagnosed with Autism. That is when Helen started to write about Miss Furry to entertain her son as it was based on their pet cat. It has been a very personal journey for them both and Helen hopes that Miss Furry brings joy to other children. Helen and her Son live in Northumberland with Miss Furry who does indeed spend her days patrolling the fence.
